In the first quarter of 2023, social networking apps experienced notable trends in Latin America. Data from Sensor Tower reveals insights into the performance of the top 5 apps on a unified platform, including WhatsApp Messenger, Facebook, Telegram Messenger, Messenger, and Google Meet.

WhatsApp Messenger by WhatsApp Inc. showed a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $141 in the last week of March. Weekly downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of approximately 2.4M downloads in the same period. Active users consistently grew, starting from 288.8M at the beginning of January and reaching 292.9M by the end of March.

Facebook from Meta Platforms, Inc. saw a decline in weekly revenue, from $108K at the end of December to about $78K in the last week of March. Downloads remained robust, with numbers hovering around 2.2M to 2.3M throughout the quarter. Active users experienced slight fluctuations, with a peak of 304.8M at the start of January, stabilizing around 302.7M by quarter's end.

Telegram Messenger by Telegram FZ-LLC had a significant revenue spike, hitting $58.6K in the week of February 20. Download numbers varied, with a peak of about 1.3M in mid-January. Active users showed a slight decline from 28.1M at the end of December to 29.1M at the end of March.
